Save the date: SocialChangeCamp is on

mknell:

It’s been a while in coming (we know) and we’ve had to push the date back from August to September (we’re sorry), but we’re pleased to finally announce a date and venue for the first SocialChangeCamp in New York City. We’re pleased to say we’ll be back with our friends at the Roger Smith Hotel, home of SocialMediaCamp NY 2009, and of course, SM4SC NYC 2009 in April, on Saturday, September 26, 2009. More details will be forthcoming, but at this point, we need your help in three ways!

  1. Tell your friends about us! Retweets, reblogs, etc are welcome. Everyone is welcome to attend, but we’re going to stick to the overarching theme of “Social Change 2.0” - how social causes can better use technology to reach their fundraising goals. The event is best suited to those who work for non-profits, NGO, museums, schools and other organizations who are looking to bring their fundraising / advocacy to the next level.
  2. Volunteer! If you’d like to help us put on the event, drop us a line at sponsors[at]sm4sc[dot]com. We’ll be holding the first meeting of the organizing committee soon.
  3. Sponsor or underwrite us! We’ll be keeping to the BarCamp spirit with a maximum donation of $250, which means to keep the event free or inexpensive, your contributions are welcome. We also need a 501(c)3 organization to underwrite the event so we can make sure the donations are tax-deductible. If you want to sponsor us in cash, or in-kind donations or can help us underwrite the event, please contact us at sponsors[at]sm4sc[dot]com or drop us a line.

You can keep up with the latest updates on Twitter at @socchangecamp, on this blog at sm4sc.com, or on our Wiki page at http://www.socialchangecamp.com Thanks for your continued support of SM4SC, SocialChangeCamp, and everything else you help to do to make this possible. Without you, we don’t exist.

Ick - I hate these things…and the little munchkin certainly gave me a run for my money…but never enough to consider this madness. I have other thoughts on this image, but I’ll keep them to myself.

Una guida carina all’etiquette del sushi

I’m guilty of dumping wasabi into my soy sauce.

Wasabi dumping ends now…   Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

I was guilty of the chopsticks rub…

I’ve dipped the rice side…in fact- probably still will.

This is pretty much amazing. “…if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was hurricane.”

First time I checked tumblr in over a week and this was on top. Had to take a moment to reblog simply based on the fact that I literally gasped while reading.

Crater Was Shaped by Wind and Water, Mars Rover Data Shows…..
———-
Those two Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity, have provided much information about the planet in the five years they’ve been rolling around the surface.
Most of the data relates to the central question of the role water might have played in the planet’s past, and a new paper in Science, describing Opportunity’s exploration of Victoria Crater in Meridiani Planum, a plain near the equator, is no exception.
